We made some soap crayons. Great clean fun, kids of all ages love this, we were all involved and enjoyed ourselves.
How to make soap crayons
What you’ll need:
Soap, food colouring, and some nice smelling stuff. We had vanilla, peppermint, brandy and tea tree oil.
1. Grate the soap.
2. Add the food colouring and smell stuff, until it looks and smells how the kids want
3. Then slowly pour warm water into it, mixing as you go. At this point I found it much easier to use gloves, and mix by hand.
4. Put gladwrap on the table, and shape the soap into the soap crayon shape you want.
5. Pop it in the freezer for 10 mins.
6. Take it out and leave it somewhere to dry out for 2 days,
Unwrap and let the kids go wild drawing on themselves and the bath!!

I just wrote a comment and it disappeared.
As I was saying,
I used to put food colouring in my kids bath. There was a time when my son would not have a bath unless it was green.

Birdie, I've thought about that before but I was wondering if it would stain?

Woohoo, I have all that stuff, this is awesome! I can't not think about how borderline obscene that first one is though, ha.
Also, I'm amused that your blog goes back to 1978!… whaaa?
(found you on the Sun page btw)

It will surely make a great scent since it is a soap based crayons. But you must tell your kids not to swallow nor eat it since it can highly poison them. But it’s an effective diversionary activity and a great time to bond with your kids where you can supervise them and teach them with things that they ought to know.

I’m lucky – my kids love bathing, so not really a problem for us, just a bit of fun!
