Just Like Them

The rain falls hard and fast

mixing with the tears streaming down my face

my hair is plastered against my cheek

and my shirt sticks to my body

saturated with anger, helplessness, tears and rain

The sobs are gentle and timid

and then I crack

sobs rack my body

People always see me as happy

cheerful old me

never down

gotta problem?

Go see her – she’ll help

Yeah, sure, I’ll help

but sometimes I wish they knew

that I’m just like them

Why can’t they listen to me

instead of talking about themselves

I care about them, really I do

but I need someone to talk too

maybe it’s you I need

maybe it’s you who should listen

are you the one?
